Choose your 3 Card Poker Game and Strategy
Pairplus gives a net value for every hand the player gets. This means that there really is no issue of strategy for three card poker here. Whatever cards are drawn, are those that determine the player's payout. Ante and Play, on the other hand has room for strategy as the player must make choices. He must choose whether to play and raise or to give up and fold. There are two strategies which are very simple to understand and implement and provide for fairly good odds for the player. Playing blindly without even a basic strategy can result in significantly worse long term results and is generally not advisable!
Play Three Card Poker with the Dealer in Mind
The simplest strategy that can be played is that of mimicking the dealer. This means that a player chooses whether to play and raise or to fold based on the rules which govern the dealer's actions. Basically, this means raising on any hand which contains a queen or higher. This is a relatively good strategy (much better than randomly playing!) but is far from being optimal. There is an even better strategy which can be achieved simply although it may take some practice to play with confidence. This strategy is described in detail in the following paragraph.
The Optimal Basic 3 Card Poker Strategy
The optimal basic strategy is known as the Queen Six Four strategy. This strategy is the identical to the one described in the Wizard of Odds website. In this strategy any hand which is as good as a Queen, six and four hand, or better is raised and anything lower is folded. This means that also a hand which contains a Q, 7 and 3 should be raised (since in poker the highest card is checked and then the second and so on). This 3 card poker strategy betters the odds considerably for the player when compared with playing with no strategy whatsoever and is moderately better than the mimicking strategy described in the previous paragraph.
