All About Brag
Three Card Brag is a British card game that has been around since the sixteenth century. Brag is similar to poker - in fact, the American game of 3 card poker is directly derived from the game of Brag. There are a few minor differences, but they are both fast-paced betting games using three card hands.
How to Play Brag
Brag is a fun and fast-paced game, ideally suited for a group of four to six players.
There are two separate bets placed in a game of Brag. The first bet, known as the ante bet, is the amount of money that all players have to place into the pot before the cards are dealt. The ante can be any amount - the size of the bet is generally agreed on at the start of the game.
The next bet is placed after the cards are dealt. The minimum amount of this bet is also determined at the beginning of the game. The first player usually starts with the minimum bet, and subsequent players can choose to put in a minimum bet as well. If a player's hand is particularly good, he may choose to raise the bet - usually, a limit is set on the amount the bet can be raised in any play. If the player decides that their hand is not a winner, they can fold, losing any money they've placed into the pot.
In a game of Brag, this process continues for several rounds until all of the players but one have chosen to fold. When the second to last player folds, the last one remaining wins the contents of the pot.
A surprising fact is that brag is not only popular in the UK - Canadians fell in love with it, too! moreover, the Online Casino Canada has listed some of the best casinos that offer brag.
What's Different in a Game of 3 Card Poker?
Brag and 3 card poker are extremely similar card games, but there are a few differences. One difference is the value of various hands. For example, in a game of Brag, Three of a Kind is the best possible hand, whereas in 3 card poker, a Straight Flush beats it. Another difference between 3 card poker and Brag is that a game of 3 card poker is generally considered to consist of two separate games - Pairplus and Ante-and-Play.
While the Ante-and-Play part of 3 card poker is played like a regular game of Brag, the Pairplus part of the game is a bet that gets paid out for all players with a hand of a pair or better. 3 card poker players can choose to play either the Pairplus part of the game, the Ante-and-Play, or both.
But while there are a few differences, both Brag and 3 card poker make use of the famous "poker face" technique. Players with a little bit of luck and the best bluffing skills will often find that they're the last ones standing.
Brag is far from being the only game casinos offer nowadays. More popular games are online roulette, slots and blackjack.
