Poker the Slow Game

Poker is always depicted as a "heavy" game. Playing poker seriously involves several rounds of betting, bluffing and drawing cards until the grand finale. Poker is thus a rather slow game which must be played with great deliberation in order to be played successfully. Poker is a rather old game which used to be popular among various card players and movies and tales have all been created around this great game. The traditional game also involves a great deal of bluffing and calling bluffs which has lead to the expression of a "poker face" as well as making the game a very involved and interpersonal one.

Three Card Poker - the Fast Game

In contrast, three card poker is a fast paced and exciting game where little attention (if at all) is paid to the other players (there are at most two round!). There is no room for bluffing (because there is no one to bluff against!) and the play is far more straight-forward and strategy based. This is because three card poker is a far more modern card game which is more suited for the fast calculated players of today who are not starving for player interactions. In addition, three card poker is really two games combined. The outcome of the first game, Pairplus, is completely dependant on the cards that the player has drawn. The only relation that Pairplus has with poker is that the names of the winning hands and their compositions are similar to those found in the classic poker game. The second game, Ante and Play, more closely resembles poker in that the player's hand must beat the dealer's hand. Again, the hands are measured and ranked similar to poker hands. There is no re-dealing and the dealer only looks at his cards after the player has made his bet so all forms of bluffing and reading are eliminated.
